Confidentiality

Q: How could information about an infection in our facility get into the public domain?

A: Facility outbreak information is not confidential and is subject to right-to-know except for identifying information related to individual patients. NH DHHS may announce information about COVID-19 cases in facilities but states they will contact those facilities before doing so. NH DHHS therefore responds to right to know and other requests for COVID-19 data, for example to the press or hospitals who request such information.

Q: What information will SST liaisons share with DHHS about COVID-19 cases at our facility?

A: The Senior Support Team liaisons and other volunteers do not have a specific reporting duty to NH DHHS. That said, information shared in liaison calls is already covered by mandated reporting requirements; licensed senior residential facilities, ordering providers and labs processing COVID-19 tests must report positive cases to the NH DHHS.

Information is changing rapidly as the COVID-19 outbreak evolves. Please take the links on these pages, especially the NH DHHS, which coordinates the COVID-19 response in our state, and other public health resources such as your local public health department, the CDC and WHO to find the latest guidance and recommendations.
